Grilled Fish with Smoked Paprika

Ask and ye shall receive… One of my readers recently asked if I could post more healthy, easy-to-prepare fish recipes. Of course, I’m happy to oblige! The readers of this blog are its true raison d’être, so here we go!

I have no idea where I found this recipe – I have a folder of “recipes to try” that I’ve had forever, and I just type them out and store them away for when I want to try something new. So I can’t tell you its origin, but I have modified it a bit after having made it a few times. The first time I made it, it was a tad too salty for me (and that must have meant it was really salty, because in spite of my love for baking, I really have a “salty tooth” more than a sweet tooth!). So I reduced the amount of salt and increased the paprika.

First, just mix together the oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl and stir it well…

Then just simply brush it all over the fish on both sides.

Now you just have to heat a bit of canola oil in your pan while you enjoy the warmth of the sun’s rays!

And then gently place the fish in your pan. From there, just cook until done. Depending on the thickness of your fish, it should take about four minutes for each side. You’ll know it’s ready to eat when it flakes apart nicely.

And that’s it! Healthy and fast, just as requested! ♥

Ingredients

  • 1½ tablespoons olive oil
  • 1½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 (6-ounce) fish fillets
  • 2 tbsp Canola oil
Preparation
  1. combine oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a bowl, stirring well
  2. rub fish evenly with oil mixture
  3. heat a large nonstick grill pan over medium-high heat and add canola oil
  4. add fish to pan; cook 4 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork or until desired degree of doneness
